Mike and Phil from Webtogs to take on The Black Death

A couple of weeks ago, perhaps foolishly, I decided to enter the aptly named Black Death Run: a 10-mile trail run at Combe Sydenham, West Somerset, with over 2800 ft of ascent. Foolish, because I’ve never actually participated in an organised running event before, let alone an off-road one with such intimidating vertical proportions. And foolish because as I write, it’s only just over two weeks away.

Should be a challenge!

Luckily my Webtogs colleague (and resident customer service guru) Mike has just signed up for the Black Death Run too, and he’s been running/ triathlon-ing for as long as I’ve been breathing: who better to have on-side for training hints and tips? My girlfriend Eilís has also signed up – and everyone runs quicker with a training partner and moral support… so we’re hoping! To an extent the three of us are all in the same boat, having both left training rather to the last minute (not unsafely so, of course).

We’ll be sharing some of our favourite trail running kit in the lead-up to the run, and of course, we’ll let you know how it goes!

Head here to check out the official Black Death Run website to find out more, or if if you’re interested in joining us on our quest – www.theblackdeathrun.com

Thanks for reading,

Phil

Lots more of this to come over the next 2 weeks - hopefully in equally lovely weather! But probably not.
