The ‘Icona’ Zamberlan Norwegian Welted boot collection is a high-end line which demonstrates the immense skill and expertise that has been passed down through generations of master bootmakers at Zamberlan, Italy. One of the oldest and most highly proven methods of boot construction, Norwegian Welting is coupled with advanced modern outsole technology to produce end products that embody the Zamberlan artisan tradition of exquisitely made, reliable and comfortable walking boots.

The Zamberlan Solda GTX Norwegian Welted Boot. All leather panels are stitched and shaped by Zamberlan's skilled craftspeople in Italy, before being attached to the Vibram and bi-density PU sole unit by the tough and watertight Norwegian Welt.

Norwegian Welting is a traditional and extremely resilient construction method for boots. It requires great skill and experience to be executed. The Norwegian Welt features two lines of stitching; the first of which fixes the leather upper to the midsole (which is specifically designed for this purpose), the second of which fixes the upper to the insole. The insole is then glued to the midsole to produce a robust single unit that is bonded at multiple levels, for exceptional structural integrity.

Another advantage of the Norwegian Welting technique is that it allows boots to be easily and non-destructively resoled by a skilled bootmaker, meaning that a Zamberlan Norwegian Welted boot really can last a lifetime with the correct care.

The Zamberlan Pejo GTX Norwegian Welted Boot. Shares the same construction technique and Italian workmanship as the Zamberlan Solda, but in a more supple, 'Mustard' Tuscan leather.

All Zamberlan Norwegian Welted boots are handmade in Italy by Zamberlan’s skilled bootmakers. Only the finest raw materials are used in their construction, including 2.4-2.8mm Tuscan full-grain leather, calf leather, and nubuck. All Norwegian Welted boots are equipped with Vibram soles designed especially for Zamberlan.

The different Norwegian Welted boot styles in the Icona range appeal to a range of people; from the dedicated backpacker or trekker who appreciates fine craftsmanship, to the urban wearer seeking individual, high-end vintage style. Whatever you want them for; day-to-day wear, infrequent outings, or that special once-a-year adventure; you’re bound to be impressed by their quality, comfort, performance and workmanship.

As Zamberlan themselves put it, their Norwegian Welted boots are;

‘A product that is going to distinguish Zamberlan in the market, as well as the people who wear them’.

We couldn’t agree more.

The Zamberlan Solda and Pejo both look great with casual wear - as here with a pear of jeans. They also have the durability, build quality and grip to handle life on the trail.
